The Ringwood Library Trail starts at the Ringwood Library. The Library is next to the Park and Ride lot, so there is a lot of space for vehicles to park. The trail goes up a service road and only the last 200 yards require foot travel. Besides the library, there is a dog park, playground and a strip mall with food in the area. This area has bus service to New York City.
The highlight of this spot is the viewpoint. The reservoir sits in the background along with mountains and a wonderful southern view. During the winter, this viewpoint will often glow under the changing colors of the setting sun. Because there is a cell tower 200 yards away, trucks can bring equipment there and the hiking distance is short. An unmarked path along the western edge of the hill can give some amazing hiking shots with the sunset visible through the light tree cover. The sunset is clear from October until February, then it sets behind a mountain for the warmer months.
